In a world where the magical is political, a girl named Leimomi dreams to become a mage to support her family. However, due to not being born a mage, she can never wield magic.

One day, while playing a little to much, she calls the spirits of the land to help her cast a spell that summons a wind. At first, there is no response, but later that night, a talking cat that calls herself a witch claims to have heard her call. In exchange for shelter, which the witch needs for her own personal reasons, she will teach the girl how to use magic.

Leimomi gets to live a dream not many do; and for that, she is greatful...but where there is magic, there is the Other Side, ugly truths, and tons upon tons of responsibility...
