A woman from the country of Keona with a gift for magic, especially theurgy. This gift comes with a price, however, and often leads to various incompatibilities with mortal life. As a result, Luana finds herself stuck between worlds at all times. She comes off as wise and practical to those she meets, but she often feels incompetent in all she does.

The young crown prince of Tovera, whose beauty belies his hot head and spunk. He is proud of his country, and an important figure in the kingdom, as his magic has helped make wonderful structures and the most beautiful, undying flowers. When he isn't on princely duties, he is frolicking the streets of Abulosa, making exquiste clothes and blankets, decorating the city with flowers....and for some reason, spending time with Luana, a foreign commoner.

A mage from Lucero that can shift into an eagle in his sleep-though he prefers not to use his spirit form at all for mage work. He is seen as an older brother figure to those who know him. Despite his usual easygoing nature, when it comes to magedom, he shows a side of himself not many get to see. He is a member of the Order of the Serpent, the Lucerian equivailent to Torchbearers.

A prodigy of white magic, Amber is energetic, happy, and dedicated to her religion as well as her elder sister's expectations. She adores her friends, even if she doesn't agree with their views, and wishes they'd let her in on more than they do.

She ends up taking a shine onto the fairies, and serves as their maid as they go on adventures around Tovera.
